Our lacquer frame highlights a detail from Fruit (or Pomegranate) (ca. 1866), a block-printed wallpaper in The Met collection. This sumptuous pattern was created by William Morris (British, 1834–1896), the leading figure of the Arts and Crafts movement in England. Morris believed that beauty, imagination, and order were the necessary components of a strong design.
